My clients came to me needing help making product choices for their bathroom renovations. It was original 1978, in perfect condition!

They wanted to keep the same layout (Unless removing walls there wasn't much we could change anyhow.), good quality, and timeless.

Timeless. Timeless because they wanted many years to enjoy it without it going too out of style as this retired couple spends most of the winter golfing at their palm tree home, and most of the summer at their lake cottage fishing. :) This home is a landing base when wanted.

Her requests:

-grey floors

-white vanity

-match the trim with the rest of the house

-please pick the rest

.

............ and...."after you design it will YOU and J please do the work!!?? We have seen the work you have done! We will be gone January to end of March and you can just have the key...."

hummmmmmmm.......

As busy as our lives are we have a spot in our heart for this lovely inspirational couple. How could we say no!?

The deal was, we were zipping up the zipper and they were not allowed to see anything until the "final reveal". The deal was made. :)

PRODUCT PICKING

Everything was demolished down to the studs, but just like many renovations, hiccups come along the way....we were going to go with a 60 inch vanity to give a little more floor space in this small bathroom, until we uncovered this piping that we were unable to move for so many reasons. The vanity that we had already chosen was also available in 72 inches........so bigger we go to cover that pipe.

THIS fell out of the wall during demo!!!!! I was excited to see the deep wall that I had no idea was there!!!!!!

So we took advantage of this new found space. Moved a little electrical, added some 2x4's, little drywall, some custom glass shelves (special thank you to Lowes glass for working on our tight timing with a last minute design change!) and.....made some well needed extra storage in this small bathroom! :)

The importance of pre-planning stud blocking before the drywall goes up. Makes things easier to hang later and nice and secure.

Check out how we rebuild....takes time....lots of prep before the pretty, but so worth every step!

Some of our pictures during "rebuild". :)

Excitement is in the air (and a little nervous) as it gets closer to the day of the big reveal!

Please check out our Facebook page to see the "big reveal!" caught on video!

There were tears of happiness for everyone...including me.

Here is our new timeless 2019 bathroom rebuild....

We started with simple grey floors. We kept everything light and bright......all different tones of white, keeping the new grey feel but keeping a hint of the brown family to tie into the wood that is in the rest of the home. We carried the house's existing trim into the new bathroom. This was very important, to keep a natural flow between spaces.

We kept the toilet low, making it more invisible to the eye....who wants to look at that! ;)

Getting a good quality vanity that is solid wood doors and solid drawer construction is wonderful. This vanity even has a hidden kick plate so the dust and dirt doesn't collect back there.

In our simple timeless one half off set subway tile shower we created a fun herringbone pattern nook in a smaller size tile and marble edging in a nice 24x15 inch size.

We also added:

-a pot light in the shower after removing that bulk head giving a needed feeling of height

- a double sink vanity

-a plug in a better accessible area

-a much needed bathroom vent in the ceiling

-two vanity lights instead of one, and on its own switch

-the nook by the vanity for extra storage but still feel open with the custom glass shelves

After enjoying a time of joy with my clients, I jumped on a plane for some well needed R&R with palm trees, the ocean, and my loving family of 4. :)
